Die Hard 4 is set pretty much smack on Independence Day, right? I was pretty certain that it's July 4 when they arrive in Washington, but now I'm having a moment of doubt - it's not some other US holiday, right? (I just have memories of billowing flags, children playing in fountains, the White House in slow motion... same old, same old.)

I'm asking because it's June 4 today, which makes it 1 month until July 4, which is - in DH canon, 1 year after the events of the movie, rite?

So anyway, I'm thinking it would be cool to have like, a semi-casual fic fest or something over at hard4brains. Like - it is 1 month from now, post some prompts in the comments, I'll compile a masterlist and people can pick things up at their own whim and post by/on July 4 week?

Did you read that Bruce Willis chat where he said something like, and I'm paraphrasing, "Proofreading is for pussies?" I'm sure he feels the same way about grammar. Hee!

I would totally be into this, as long as long as submissions don't need to be super long! We should definitely do something to mark the anniversary of the fandom/love affair/etc.!

Hah! That's hilarious. I haven't read that chat; pretty much the only DH-related interview I can ever recall is that moment where Justin Long tells the interviewer, "yes, he says the 'yippie-kay-yay' line, and you know it's at the most interesting moment... it's actually when he's inside me." (or somesuch. I'm paraphrasing. but not much. heee!)

Yeah, I'm figuring submissions at least 500 or 1000 words? I know small fandom big bang etc is due at the end of June, so don't want to do anything major!

And no matching, recipients, chasing submissions, or anything like that. So, nice and no pressure, I'm thinking :)

Hee! Yes, I read that one too. Sadly, I went on a binge where I read everything that google turned up about BW, including the entire transcript of his chat with fans on Aintitcoolnews before LFoDH was released. There was some debate about whether the real BW would have such execrable typing skills, which he responded with that line. He is both awesome and kind of embarrassing at the same time!

I love the idea of a nice, no pressure mini-fest! I say go for it and I will do my best to write a little something something (my first fic in this fandom, whee!).
