Hmm... despite Sean Bean, Red Riding was a bit too dour and violent for my tastes. While the cinematography was pretty, it lacked heart and character in itself, really.
In a lot of places, the aesthetics of it struck me as very David Lynch, if he were British and not quite as adventurous.
Sean Bean was a bit scary, but underused.
Then again, I was crocheting through most of it (which helped to deal with all the violence, honestly), so perhaps I didn't connect with it as well as I might. Then again, the overall plot etc fell pretty flat.
Not sure I'll watch the rest of them.
