i was going to spoiler cut, but it seems kind of pointless (because, duh)

Today I listened to the new Torchwood audiobook, In The Shadows.

OH MY GOSH MY OH TEE PEE I LOVE THEM SOOOOOO *heartclench*

Didn't it just make you feel warm and fuzzy? :)

[identity profile] rexluscus.livejournal.com 2009-05-20 04:58 pm (UTC)(link)
It was selfish, really. I wanted people to squee about it with. :)

It seems clear that "Lost Souls" was written in a hurry. "Quick, we need something about the Large Hadron Collider!... I dunno, something with aliens!" And that's what they got.

How can I, too, listen to this? I have never heard anything of the audio, though I have all the available novels in print. Will I freak out?

[identity profile] amand-r.livejournal.com 2009-05-20 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Ha ha! The idea of Catherine being lulling cracks me up, but I do not doubt.

Gah, that's one hell of a flight. Where were you coming from, Jupiter?

[identity profile] amand-r.livejournal.com 2009-05-20 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh jeez, and I thought my flight from Pittsburgh to Manchester was going to be long. Perspektive. I has it nao.

[identity profile] amand-r.livejournal.com 2009-05-20 08:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I was going to go down there for a convention a few years ago, and the flight prices alone took my breath away. Stunning.

Yeah, but I have to leave eventually! I have cats to feed!

Are you going to Hub3 by any chance? I'll be tooling about the UK in October/November and going to the con as a stop in my unplanned travels. I would buy you a drink (or two, or hell, three).

[identity profile] amand-r.livejournal.com 2009-05-20 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Uhm, yeah, I'm going (it's all an excuse to go the UK!), and well, I'm not much for celeb cons, but I figure I might run into a few people I know there. I hope.

CARDIFF? OF COURSE I AM.

[identity profile] zortified.livejournal.com 2009-05-20 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I so badly want to see Ianto doing this on an episode. His little 'wheeee!' face, in the middle of a SRS BZNZ mission - and Jack would have been talking, and would stop, mid-word, and stare for a bit and try to reconcile this image of Ianto with everything he's ever previously known about Ianto. And it takes him a moment to reboot his brain because just as he starts to reboot, Ianto pushes the chair back the other way and goes 'whee' again and Jack whimpers because, really, he shouldn't have to choose between Saving Cardiff and Shagging Ianto.

[identity profile] zortified.livejournal.com 2009-05-20 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
It's wonderful and SQUEEEEE and IANTO. *squishsmishesianto*

It's like Ianto woke up that morning and was all "Fuck it! I'm not taking it seriously today!" because he broke the coffee decanter at home, or something, so clearly the day was going to be a wash.

And I love how Jack mostly just rolls with it - trying to keep some semblance of order and not minding too much when he fails. Although there *could* have been spanking, after.

Yes. I shall be braving the rails of the UK.

ZOMG YOUR TARDIS MUST BE TAKING A BREAK FROM ITS BUSY JOB OF SELLING TOYS IN PITTSBURGH. (http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c341/turned_earth/various/TARDIS.jpg)

Also, you are tres cute!

NNGK. *draws big sparkly hearts around him*

[identity profile] amand-r.livejournal.com 2009-05-21 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
See, I need to know these things. I was thinking of getting a rail pass, because I think I'll be going from Manchester to Birmingham and then to Cardiff, etc. I don't really know anything. It's on my list of "shit to research" this summer. Along with "how does money work in the UK?" and "How can I, as American, travel innocuously and not get tarred and feathered in the UK?"

I joke. I joke. Not about the rail pass, though.

YOU ARE WISER THAN I. I FORGOT THAT IT WAS A TIME MACHINE AS WELL AS A DELIGHTFUL TOY DISPLAY TO SHOW OFF JACK ACTION FIGURES.

[identity profile] amand-r.livejournal.com 2009-05-21 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I'm going to fly into Manchester (I have friends in Alderley Edge), and that was as far as I got, you know, except for my manic hand flapping and "I want to do THIS!" because honestly, It's two weeks without my kid, and I'll probably never get to do this again. I will look into rail passes. I was thinking of picking up a guidebook and perusing so that I could pick some places, because honestly, I also need places to stay.

But I'm still in the hand flappy stage. HAND FLAPPY.

Trains here blow. It takes 17 hours to get to Chicago by train, and 8 to drive from where I live. This might very well be my first time on a train.

OMG yes. God bless him, Barrowman is more of a personality than an actor, I think. :) Eve is so good that I enjoy her even when the writing of her character annoys me. She was great in "Little Dorrit" too, I thought.

[identity profile] hansbekhart.livejournal.com 2009-05-23 04:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Psssst, where can I find this new audiobook?

[identity profile] hansbekhart.livejournal.com 2009-05-24 07:35 am (UTC)(link)
That was FANTASTIC, thank you for the rec!!!
