This is almost cruel honestly. I never thought I'd say that about a tv character but with Ianto the love is almost silly. We are, as a fandom sincerely attached to him. And they know that. I'm sure of that. It's a bit too much. I'm sure we'll get press releases talking about freedom of writing and while understanding all that....they're writing for an audience.
The fandom is pretty much ruined for me. I'm having so much trouble reading fic. And I really don't see myself watching an s4 if there is one. I'm only watching episode 5 because of some tiny, stupid hope that he'll come back. Although I don't expect him to and I am ready for the fact that it is unlikely that I'll sleep tonight. I am a total Ianto fan...I watched for him, I loved the character. We all know what happens....they'll save the children and the planet, yada yada. Everyone will cry. Some kid will get named Ianto (although if this happens I will lose it laughing so that would be nice).
This is Ianto's send off. Killed in MI-5 because apparently facing race destroying aliens in order to give them an ultimatum was a good idea. Of course the aliens would go scurrying! *rolls eyes*
I'm sorry, I'm angry and ranting away at your journal. I just think having him die in those circumstances was just very stupid. This was a total ploy, intended only to shake us all up and push people to watch episode 5. The real fans? The ones who've waited for so long for CoE (I'm not even one of them)...I think they were all let down. I'm disappointed in his send off......because otherwise this was really a fantastic episode.
