Wooo, yeah. I wore a hard brace on my neck for four weeks and a soft brace for six and it doesn't matter if you take them off to shower, they get DISGUSTING. Also, woo, hot.
How can something be simultaneously hi-lariously random and perfectly in-character? This is awesomecool, and I feel proud to have it co-dedicated to my fine self. Your brain = of the very shiny. I especially adored Kaylee and River's hijinks.
“So tell me, Jayne,” Wash interjects, and from the tone of his voice, Jayne just knows something funny’s gonna come out.
This is fabulous: perfect growly Jayne voice that doesn't sacrifice the wit and richness of his perspective. You put him through the wringer, but it doesn't feel like you're torturing him. I'm not sure why Simon takes him in the end, but I think Jayne deserves a little love after all that.
thankyou! as i was writing it i was kinda working on the assumption that they are already sleeping together *before* the events in trash... at least in the little happy place my housemates and i always discuss, they are :D thus i didn't work that hard at making it more credible that simon would take him, because i was thinking he was taking him back.
woot. still glad you liked :) thankyou for the feedback!
I really enjoyed this, I was grinning the whole time I read it. The voice is really great, and some of the lines were fantastic (i.e. "Jayne ain’t sure exactly what an eddi-kit is"). The image of River sitting innocently at the table with Jayne's goggles on is perfect -- it just works so well. And yuck, the description of the protein curd just turned my stomach. Thanks! Ana.
*flail* you are TOTALLY my favourite author! *squeal* if, er, you're the ana i'm thinking of. i THINK you are. omg!
i have been totally working myself up to writing you feedback since you re-appeared, but at the moment I'm waiting until serenity comes out, because i saw joss at a q&a the other night and some of his comments on the characters reminded me strongly of one of your fics... and i wanted to share it with you, but it's kinda spoilery, so... HURRY UP AND SEE THE MOVIE! then i'll feedback you :D
Hi! I could be the Ana you're talking about (email anacondagrrl @ lycos.com, and I did disappear for ages). If I am, I'm so happy you like my stuff! I think I am one of the few people who haven't seen the movie yet. Aggh! I'm counting the days. Literally. Well, not literally. Ok, yes, I am. I'm really interested to know about the Joss Q&A & fic thing, but thank you so much for waiting, because I don't want to be spoiled for the movie. Well, I kind of do. But not really. But kind of. But not.
I also forgot to say that I liked how Jayne was convinced that everyone was against him in this story. Even Kaylee! It had a nice sense of paranoia and misery and feeling out of place. Because I totally think Jayne needs to know his place, even if he doesn't think he likes to know it/even if he thinks he's more of the loner type. Yay, story!
I know how much using fancy language makes you hot…
Jayne doesn't complain about the fancy talk, either. At least not when they're in bed, even if he doesn't know what some of the words mean (re: verbatim = Such a kinky word. *g*).
This was so much fun! I loved Kaylee who helps Jayne a bit, but still laughs along with the crew.
Poor Jayne thinking everyone's out to get him. Even things that wouldn't much bother him/touch him in normal circumstances turn against him; Preacher not spotting him, River ripping off can labels. Lack of sex probably got to his brain. *pets him* I love how you kept him perfectly IC, but still showed his needier side. 8)
