With the power dynamics that are so often inscribed onto whoever top/bottoms in slash, I find it much more interesting to write about Merlin topping. After all, he is extremely powerful, and I kind of like it as an examination (or even just acknowledgement) of the power he even exerts in the show. Which the show generally fails to acknowledge *g* (but that's my bugbear!)
