Sleuth -
- Working title ‘bluebeard’ - canon divergence where Li Zilong kidnaps Tang Fan for nefarious purposes instead of letting him loose with the bolang plot (currently 24159)
- Sui Zhou h/c for kink meme (currently 1184)
Untamed -
- Working title ‘soft burial mounds’ - an ace WWX/WN story that I don’t really know how to end (10126)
Statistics
Total published words: 160,173
Total written words: 195,642
Total stories/ficlets/snippets published: 16
Ideas that I still really want to write (but haven't started):
(All sleuth)
- The rest in the Tang Fan/Dages series
- A tropey amnesia fic
- A suitang fic that uses the incense burner concept from MDZS
- A suitang modern AU
- Episode tag where SZ brings Dong’er home after rescuing her from the traffickers
My favourite of my own stories this year:
One sheet, thirteen lines because it was my fixit, my idfic, my wish fulfilment story. I really enjoyed writing this a lot, it’s my #1 “this needs to exist in the world, so I guess I’ll write it” fic perhaps ever.
My best story this year:
One sheet, thirteen lines for all the reasons above.
Story most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
Brightness Returns because Wen Ning also deserves his own character development, family, and fixits? Also because it made Living Dead heaps more enjoyable for me with this head canon :D
Most fun story:
Peach and Plum was really fun because GENDER TROUBLE!
You Can Grow Your Own Way made me lol a lot though I am embarrassed about it now that I know more about hair in ancient Chinese culture.
Most sexy story:
Oh, this is difficult? Maybe Kissing Lessons, because rimming?
Hardest story to write:
Ummm different ones for different reasons. Brightness Returns, because it was the first thing I wrote for years. The unfinished soft burial mounds fic because I still can’t really get a grasp on it. Challenge Accepted because I was just OVER IT by the time it came to edit and post it.
Fic that shifted my own perceptions of the characters:
Definitely One sheet, thirteen lines. Tang Fan’s characterisation was so confusing and hard to pin down, I really struggled before I wrote this (and as I was writing it tbqh). I was baffled at myself for choosing his POV.
Biggest disappointment:
I’m not really… hugely disappointed in anything this year? Except perhaps in myself for not being able to finish that soft burial mounds fic. Also I kind of wish Stewed Pears got some more love, though I know why it didn’t (gen, etc).
Biggest surprise:
Um, getting back into fandom after an 8 year break.
Most telling story:
I don’t know how to answer this one, I feel like I have fully embraced my id and share all my kinks without any shame, so they are all equally as telling as the others??
What's next?
Hopefully lots more Sleuth fic because I’m really enjoying this fandom. First up finishing the bluebeard story, crossing fingers.
