(no subject)

my essay question for cinema studies this semester:

How do feminists utilize pornography?  Does pornography made by women challenge the concept of 'porn' in the public sphere?  In your response, you might like to look at slash fiction, Internet erotica or romance novels instead of filmic examples.  [my emphasis]

and this week i'm doing a tute presentation/paper on:

Drawing on the work of Henry Jenkins, address the ways in which new media technologies (eg. Internet fan culture) are re-shaping the relations between production/consumption in the public sphere (looking at the work of Quentin Tarantino)

I CHOOSE THE BEST SUBJECTS.

meanwhile, i have a puffy, vibrating, disgruntled rat in my lap.  last night i dreamt i bought a blonde-ginger kitten and called it "Fappo".

Ah, academics and slash. A delectable combination.

Since you brought it up... what's with the whole "Fappo" thing? I am curious.

i am SO interested in the feminists and porn question.... is that cultural studies or gender studies or what? If I were going to go look for articles about it, do you have any authors to suggest?

Can I watch this space in hopes of more on the topic?

*cheers*
