argh!

first jacques derrida is dead.
now christopher reeve is dead.
and JK is killing off another one.

it's supposedly 30 degrees in october, coalition have control over the house of reps, most of the senate, and the balance of power will probably most likely be held by a right-wing fundamentalist christian party who think lesbians should be burned at the stake.

IT'S THE APOCALYPSE, PEOPLE.

Oh. My. God.

I hadn't heard about Christopher Reeve until I read it here. That seriously makes me want to cry. And he was getting better...

I don't even know what to say.

it's been a sucky monday, yes? lovely to arrive to work and have one MD celebrate because the economy is "now going to jump start" (what's it been doing these past few years then? waiting for another election?) and the other MD is wondering how the hell this could have happened.

Er, the third link also goes to Derrida (*sniff*).

I'm assuming you mean J.K. Rowling? Must know...

My whole family, who are staunch Labor voters all decided that a nice cry and commiseration would do they trick: it didn't, am now looking forward to 4 years of John Howard looking smug beneath his eyebrows and all the senior citizens getting new knees, they're probably made from Tasmanian old-growth forests.

Oh, by the way, hi.

Hello,

Read the thing you wrote about the OZ election debacle . . . are you another Aussie person . . . can I friend you?

Keith Miller died too

[identity profile] noblevyne.livejournal.com 2004-10-21 06:33 pm (UTC)(link)
If that was for me, sure you can, I'm always on the lookout for new friends...my rant was not nearly so intelligent as angstslashhopes's, though.

[identity profile] angharad001.livejournal.com 2004-10-21 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Both good and so nice to share the pain . . . gonna go check out you lj properly.

[identity profile] angharad001.livejournal.com 2004-10-21 06:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Your interests certainly make me wanna friend you . . . are you 18? (I've got a pang of conscience cos of the . . . er . . . dubious content of my lj)

I suppose you could promise not to read the naughty bit, me dear :)

[identity profile] noblevyne.livejournal.com 2004-10-22 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
I feel very bad for doing this at angstslashhope's journal, but yes, I am 18 and completeing my HSC in less than a month. Dubious content? Sounds interesting... :D

*Hugs*, dearest

I'm prone to an occasional attack of the "OMG! I teach people your age."

Don't take offence :)

Very best of luck with your final exams . . . after that . . . FREEDOM! [add suitably triumphal mucic of your own taste]

[identity profile] noblevyne.livejournal.com 2004-10-22 07:26 am (UTC)(link)
You're a teacher? Of what? (And no offence will be taken, so long as you don't pinch my cheeks) I'm doing a BA/Teaching degree when I get to Uni next year.

*Feels the need to comment on something pertaining to the original post* So, what about that Simon Crean, eh? Oh, and OMG did anyone watch the interview with Whitlam last night? I fangirl him; Whitlam was the single most innovative leader our country has ever had, why can't we have more people like him in Parliament?

[identity profile] angharad001.livejournal.com 2004-10-22 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Whitlam was my hero when I was growing up :( We'll never see his like I'm afraid: for all his faults he was an inspiring politicisn.

I teach English & Lit at VCE level (Victoria obviously) and, currently SOSE 7 to 10. (Then all the things no one else wants to do *grin*
