Ares isn't really cool enough to be Zoe. In fact, I'm having trouble thinking of anyone in the Xenaverse who could fit the bill. Maybe one of the Amazon queens: Melosa or Ephiny.
Jayne as Gabrielle? I don't see the connection at all. Where are you seeing it? Inara is much more Gabrielle, although much more like the worldly Gabrielle after she's been travelling with Xena for a few years.
Jayne would be a better fit for someone like Draco, with the thuggery and the potential for man-ape poetry. Or, actually, Jayne = Ares. Perfect!
