I'm desperate to do it, but the desperation is warring with a wariness of it as well. I love the story lots, but don't want to weaken it with pseudo-fanfic of it.

Hah! We've had this conversation. I know how you feel. It's a connundrum. I say - write it if you want to. Write it for yourself. You don't have to post it if you decide not to. See what happens as you're writing it. Even if it just stays on your hard drive, at least you won't regret NOT doing it.

love love love discovering people praising my stories and talking about how much they like them, but the thought of people liking stories (enough to rec them, for example) and not saying anything about it to the author baffles and pains me in somewhat equal parts.

Yeah, I do not get that. It seems very strange and oddly anti-social.

Is it sad to admit that I actually live for feedback? Well, not live live, but everytime I write something, and post it, I'm just dying for feedback. And knowing that, I try to be good about feedback too.

Hah! I like everything you write. Although I think I missed some things over the Christmas holidays and have to catch up still (oh, shame; oh the curse of the Christmas dial-up).
