I am totally loving this Sam-as-an-introvert thing. It just fits so well.
I mean, it's pretty obvious just in the costuming... what other kind of mindset hides *that* body with those kind of clothes? I mean, honestly. Dean covers up, but he still wears gear that's more flattering.
It just... it fits so well. Sam would never have fit in as a kid, never been all that confident around his peers (well, the ones that weren't like him, which would have been the majority), let alone stayed long enough to settle enough to relax anywhere.
And how much do I *love* that? (A: a lot.)
Yeah, it's a huge thing I enjoy about the show, it's what makes me love the characters so hard, that they're not the heroes, they're just ordinary people doing ordinary things. Sam's not this transcendent warrior, he's a kid with an introverted personality and a messed-up childhood. Who happens to know Latin, Sam-fu, can aim and shoot a gun and is not scared of GIANT HAIRY SPIDERS CRAWLING OVER HIS SKIN.
Which means that he spent so much time in the goddamn library because he was crap at interacting with other members of the human race, not because he was Super Smart Boy! (though yeah, he is pretty damn smart, too.)
I HEART GEEKY NERDS. Well, fictional ones. They tend to be hotter and more pleasant-smelling. And can shoot guns and hunt evil and stuff.
