Question about rename tokens on LJ

When you rename on LJ it comes with the option to include a 'redirect' or not. So:

- If you rename WITH the redirect, if someone types my old username in it redirects to the new username; and where my old username is used in someone else's LJ entry, it appears as the new username; all links (eg username.livejournal.com/473840.html) redirects to newusername.livejournal.com/473840.html.

- If you rename WITHOUT the redirect, it does none of the above but still maintains your flist; defriends everyone with the old name and refriends everyone with the new name?

Is the above correct Y/N?

Yes. The friends list dumpage is a separate choice for you to check off. So if you want to ditch everybody on your flist, select it, otherwise, by default, everybody on your flist can follow you to your new name automatically.

No, you should get two choices:

1) redirect, y/n? If you choose yes, then anybody who looks for angstslashhope.livejournal.com will get redirected to yournewljname.livejournal.com.

2) keep your friends list, y/n? If you choose yes, all your friends on your flist will remain the same. If you choose no, you will automatically unfriend all of them when you rename your LJ.

flist dumpage and the redirect are two different options. You can choose one and not the other if you prefer.

I renamed WITH the redirect and chose to retain all my friends, filters and so on and it was like a 'find and replace'. Very smooth.
