So, I have been thinking pretty much non-stop about [livejournal.com profile] astolat's SPN/HP crossover, Old Country.

It seems pretty clear to me that Dean's patronus in this 'verse would be a unicorn. What do you reckon Sam's patronus would be? I'm thinking it's probably something like a Balrog.

I don't know why

but I was thinking more of a wolf or something like that...not really a magic-type-animal but maybe something strong but smart, fast but agile. I don't know I'm kinda tired here so i might just be babbling

...I think I really wanna see that. LOL

I actually think that Dean's patronus in this is the Impala. As in the ACTUAL car Impala rather than a shiny magic version of it. Because Dean's about the making magic, not the wand magic, and in some ways the Impala is what he created to protect himself and his loved ones against what he fears.

I think Sam's patronus might be something even weirder. And maybe something that SEEMS innocuous, but in its magic shiny form is bright and amazing. (Hermione has an otter, doesn't she - which is still powerful, even though an ACTUAL otter isn't that terrifying - it's the force of her magic that makes it powerful). So by this logic, Sam's patronus could be a cute puppy, and still whack the hell out of things. I don't think it is a puppy though. Maybe Sam's is a unicorn (which would be poetic in the sense that the unicorn saves him at the end, also that the unicorn loves Dean).

Or (just to jazz things up) if a patronus is generated by memory of happy things - then maybe Sam's patronus would be a shining image of DEAN. Mmm I don't think it works like that, but I like the idea.

in my head

Dean: horse
Sam: hawk

I haven't read the story, though [HP blah], and have only a vague idea of what a patronus is. I thought that was a Golden Compass thing? [Which I also haven't read.] But it's like... totem animal, yes?

from the latin

OH! THAT'S RIGHT. And I totally remember watching that in the movie, too, so... I kinda fail.

Oh well. Then. Sam's is a stag, possibly elk; and Dean's... heh. The Impala*. :)

Oh no! I fail again! Apparently (as i see now, after having clicked the link) Harry Potter's is a stag. :( Which doesn't seem right, but... there you go.

I'm sorry. All this magical crap is kind of confusing for me. ^__^'

*Or possibly John. XD Isn't that canon? With the.. you know.. the whole YED thing. But I like the spooging out of the wand thing, too. Heh heh heh.
...Nevermind.
Young adult fiction and I obviously do not mix.

i'd stick with the unicorn/balrog verdict *g*

No, you're right, that makes more sense. A unicorn is just a big kickass fancy horse, which I def. see as representative of something essential in Dean.

And Sam, with the scary fire.

Yes, yes, all very reasonable.

You almost make me want to read it!
