Although, I suppose another way of seeing it, is that each man was confronted with the thing about himself he most fears, so that our ambitious almost-maybe-lawyer Sammy is confronted by the suited Pride. Bobby, by sloth; making the "fat, drunk and stupid" line less flat-out mean, and more poignant, since we can assume this is how he sees himself. In this light, Dean's Lust being a woman becomes more subversive, or at least more interesting.
