Oh, oh, OH! I'm totally in love with this set-up! These two fandoms have just been begging for a crossover...I just wish you'd have the second season of Deadwood under your belt too! (no complaints, just wishes!)
I like that you've restrained yourself to two (very plausible) Firefly characters...the ones who most certainly fit the "other broad category." :D
As always, I enjoy how you manage to convey character tics like Simon's halting speech and the nervousness of Alma's hands against her waist. Your scenes are always so richly detailed and easy to visualize. I especially enjoyed the description of Seth's badge as "a crutch instead of a wound."
And the things River knows! *loves*
Of course I'm salivating for more. *grin* The thought of a scene with River and Doc Cochran (or Swearingen) makes my toes curl. :p
Just want to say how much I enjoyed this! I'm working on a Firefly/Deadwood crossover fic right now that's been keeping me awake at nights (gorram thing!), and I'm fascinated to see how other authors have tackled the premise. I particularly liked you handling of Alma's voice. Very nice!
I've been really fascinated with the idea of how River might interact with Farnum. Talk about a slimey mind you're really, **really** not to want to have read...
OMG, yay! I love it. And River's invasion of Swearengen's place (and comfort zone) cracks me up, as well as her recounting of the meeting. Poor Simon, having to apologise for her at the dinner table.
