Yeah, I totally count statistics as part of the feedback I get on a story. Depending on my mood, what the ratio of hits:comments is gives me varying degrees of disappointment or amusement.

I don't think there's a rule that can be applied across the board - the patterns vary depending on the archive, the fandom, and the author's position in it. It's all pretty fascinating, if totally unpredictable *g*
