Things I want to write
Thank you for the prompts, droll! I hope to tackle some of them in the next couple of weeks (and beyond!) :D
Meanwhile, I've been trying to come up with content to post publicly that doesn't require me to stay awake an extra seven hours (and be inspired, to boot). So, hopefully this is something I can just gleefully ramble about for a while!
Usually I'm reluctant to share story ideas before actual stories in case of a) ruining the punchline or b) diffusing the magic, but considering I think I'm burning out of Torchwood, I might as well get some bang out of these, seeing as most won't ever see the light of day otherwise.
(Torchwood) Stories I'm Totally Going To Write, As Soon As I Can Afford To Spend All My Time Writing Fanfiction
1. The one where Jack springs Ianto with a surprise tropical holiday. Or at least, Ianto's luggage goes missing. They fly budget, Ianto is grumpy at not having any clothes, Jack tries to make it up to him by going out and buying clothes for him (hawaiian shirts with bananas all over them and skimpy bathers). Jack's bathers are a one-piece knitted in 1926. Ianto comes around to their allure. They're unfortunately unravelled in pursuit of an alien, but fortunately that occurs on a nudist beach.
2. The one where Tosh, Owen and Ianto get it on while Jack's away. With bonus Hello Kitty strapon! This is largely (lol) written, with
amand_r; it's my turn. Working title: Hogwarts Roleplayers Get Their Rocks Off (IT WILL BE FINISHED!).
3. The one where Jack just wants vanilla sex. Jack sets up expectations as a polymorphous glutton, and gets into a bind where he thinks he has to keep it up in order to keep Ianto; think: despairing inventiveness with eggbeaters. Ultimately, missionary happens, and Jack cries with orgasmic happiness when he comes. (It would be AWESOME, you guyes.)
4. The one where Ianto is a grandfather paradox. It's all about Ianto but Ianto's not really in it. There's the Time Agency, a war, lots of time travel and alien devices and Torchwood One being shitty. And it's not really a fixit, though it pretends to be.
5. The Cyberwoman AU where Ianto brings partially-converted Lisa to TW3 and manages to save her - get her out and rehabilitated. Though of course, she's left somewhat damaged from the experience. Naturally, they run away; naturally, Jack tracks them down and offers them jobs. They accept. All kinds of Jack/Ianto/Lisa shenanigans happening. (I started this one over a year ago; I am thinking it might be time to abandon it. I'm in a totally different headspace now. Maybe I'll just post the 8000-odd words I've already written and leave it at that...)
6. The origins story where Lisa's a kickarse Torchwood agent who meets this guy... Yeah, I really actually want to write this one (it's kind of taking the place of the Cyberwoman one), so I'll stop there.
7. The one with inadvertent wooing with psychic paper. Set in S1/post-cyberwoman. Ianto stumbles across Jack's psychic paper. It happens to pick up Jack's background whims. Ianto smugly uses it to flaunt his competence by bringing Jack things he wants before he voices that he wants them; Jack reads it as wooing and responds accordingly. Ianto briefly freaks out when he realises what he's got himself into, then reaps the rewards.
8. The genderswap that's actually about gender. There's a cosmetic device that falls through the rift from far in the future; its shtick is that it's a futuristic "detox" device - it resets your body to the DNA-driven factory settings, undoing any alterations you've made to it. Owen 'accidentally' sets it off. He, Tosh and Gwen get a little hairier. Jack makes it explode. Ianto turns into a woman. (Would love to write this in time for the
transfic fest.)
9. The one with Lisa and Hart. Ianto and Jack are ~*~*happily ever after*~*~. John Hart isn't an idiot; he knows that getting Ianto out of the picture himself will only make *him* look bad and make Jack pine. So instead, Hart retrieves some Lisa DNA from the Hub and jumps forward to a time where the technology is enough to clone her. Or at least; rebuild a pseudo-cybernetic body for her and embed her consciousness in it. Then reintroduce her into the picture to fracture Ianto's dedication to Jack. Of course, nothing could possibly go awry with this plan...
10. The one where Ianto made Hart into the bitter prick that he is... Ianto gets rifted into the future, where he bumps into a young and somewhat innocent Hart. Realising that if he wants to get home he needs to stick with the most familiar person around (who he knows eventually has the ability to time travel, of course), he manipulates Hart into... well, falling in love with him, really. At this point, Hart is younger, and Ianto so very exceedingly skilled at conning, so it's not so hard to get Hart to fall into a giant puddle of worshipfulness. Naturally, as soon as Ianto gets his hands on the time-travelness, he's out of there, leaving Hart crushed in his wake. Forever bitter about people leaving him, and learnt much of what he knows from Ianto.
11. TIMECOCK. Futuristic porn of an epic scale, based on a true story.
cupidsbow must have storytimed at least five hours of this, giggling constantly.
12. The ancient Rome story (doesn't every fandom need at least one?). Many years in the future, Jack's enjoying war-hopping his way through history; probably with Hart along for the ride. (Wars are fun once you stop caring about people, and if you lead then you get lots of people worshipping you, and if you do it in ancient Rome then they probably *literally* worship you because you can't die; plus, all the worshippers are wearing very little clothing.) Anyway. Ianto turns up, having been rifted months ago and heard a rumour of Jack; engineered his way onto the battle field. Jack doesn't recognise him at first. He knows Ianto gets back, though, and can send him back himself with the wrist strap, only it's kept for safekeeping at Jack's villa. So... *handwave* there's no planned plot between this bit and the end, except there's sex, and olive oil *beams*
13. Jack/Ianto/Jack porn, woo! That riffs on that old post-CoE chestnut where a future, mopey Jack travels back in time to see more of Ianto. Only this time he does it while present!Jack is around. Why pass up a threesome?
14. Continuation of the Kiss Kiss, Pew Pew 'verse. Wherein Team Torchwood run heists to get by, adapt to the future, and have lots of sex with each other.
And I have a mess of other bits and pieces of ideas in gdocs too... cyborg!Ianto, gender!AU!team, Tosh/Martha porn, 5 times members of team torchwood were companions, and ALL team as companions (building to them all in one big bed in the TARDIS and Jack in bliss, natch), and, AHAHAH I just found this one:
15. Ianto Jones's Diary - A future Jack gets hold of Ianto's diary and timetravels back to visit him at moments when Ianto is particularly exasperated/frustrated by present!Jack. Ianto starts to signpost such times in his diary. Things get more complicated, future!Jack is frustrating in his own right. Ianto despairs of his invaded privacy, starts a new, super-sekrit diary... shortly thereafter, an even more future Jack turns up, "i'm not like them... honest!" Reaches ridiculous proportions, pinnacle is when the Face of Boe turns up.
...and, oh god, there are too many more to try and think about right now, and half of them I can't remember if they were my ideas or
cupidsbow's.
Wow, I wish I had the time and energy to write all of those. *longsuffering sigh*
