hope: Art of a woman writing from tour poster (straight? you've got to be kidding.)
If you happen to be working on some creative writing project, fanfiction or NaNoWriMo or what have you, post exactly one sentence from each of your current work(s) in progress in your journal. It should probably be your favourite or most intriguing sentence so far, but what you choose is entirely your discretion. Mention the title (and genre) if you like, but don't mention anything else. This is merely to whet the general appetite for your forthcoming work(s).

how about passages instead of sentences? i like passages.

hope: Elijah Wood (yeah. i sure am.)
this is a passage from a paper i read for my essay that i'm quite fond of:

..."the Internet is more like a social space than a thing; its effects are more like those of Germany than those of hammers.  The effect of Germny upon the people within it is to make them Germans (at least for the most part); the effect of hammers is not to make people hammers, though Heideggerians and some others might disagree, but to force metal spikes into wood.  As long as we understand the internet as a hammer, we will fail to discern the way it is like Germany."

- Mark Poster, in "Cyberdemocracy: The Internet and the Public Sphere"

um. quite possibly i'm too much a geek for my own good. i found that i'd highlighted a bracket around the passage and written 'hee'. yep. far too amused.
