firstly: edigo and i were talking about starting up a lotrips canon library in which was housed (illegally, o'course) as many news articles/interviews/etc about lotr actors as we could lay hands on. not just links, which tend to die on news sites.

unfortunately i found i don't have time to undertake such a huge task/committment right now, but i still want to save all these articles/interviews before they disappear.

is there an lj community for the posting of such things already? one for just links? one that posts the actual article?

if there is a market for one (and it would make an awesome resource, you could just organise it by memories), is anyone who's reading this interested in co-modding?

versaphile put together a pretty extensive "canon info" site a while ago, here (http://www.versaphile.com/lrcanon/index.asp) (not sure if you've seen it or not). It doesn't appear to link specific articles; it's more of a timeline deal. I wonder if that could just be expanded upon? *shrug*

oh, i wasn't talking about that kind of research-intensive canon - we were just planning on keeping archived copies of all the articles/interviews.

I'd told edigo I've a bunch of stuff saved and would love to contibrute by at least 'donating' (haha) copies of every article i have. She nevah answered-- no time, I guessed-- and I thought the idea had gone down the drain. I'm still not interested in co-modding a comm, but I'm all for the existence of it and of course would still volunteer to fill it with wot ever i have.

oh, i should have explained what i was thinking better, hee - not really co-modding, but closed membership so that only approved people could post the articles, but people could friend it to keep up if they wished. to keep it all streamlined and stuff. would you be interested in that?

Sure! I'm afraid I won't always be able to say which artcile was published when and everything (for legitimacy and authenticity purposes, like) but I *do* have a lot to post, so, yeah, clearly. *nodsnods* The wealth must be shared.

Am willing to help out with said community if needed. I'm assuming this is just an article storage community? I know that I have posted a bunch of articles on my own LJ just because I wanted to keep them and I knew the links and articles on news sites would disappear in a few months, if not weeks.

I'm assuming that we're just talking about the article text here, and not scans of the article?

I try to do this on my website, articles section, only of course I specialize in Elijah, Ian and Viggo. Still, there's quite a bit there, and the search function can be used for the entire site or limited to just the articles section. I've been going back and OCRing the articles as I find time, to make them more searchable. Feel free to link from wherever, but I'd rather stuff not be reposted without asking.

Personally, that's what *I* use most of it for--RPS reference.
