help!

when i installed MSDVD on my old computer there was a bug in it or something that essentially meant i could change regions as much as i wanted. but since i installed it on this new computer it's been doggedly following the rules and counting me down how many more times i can do it.

does anyone know how i can turn it off? is there a crack somewhere i can give it unlimited changes again?

You can always load a DIFFERENT player that can be used with one of the old programs. The DVD player that came with my IBM won't work with the region free programs, so I use WinDVD on it instead.

I meant the hardware. the zone stuff is in the firmware of the hardware DVD player, and when you're using a 'proper' soft to correct it it acts over the hardware player but under the software you use to read/play DVDs. I have a ton of different players (soft) and the DVD hacks would work with them, but they don't work for my hardware, because it's too recent and the code hasn't been reverse engineered for it yet. That's what I meant, that's why making it work can variably involve finding a bypassing software thing that works (like dvdregionfree) OR finding a replacement/hack firmware/bios flash exe, a more risky procedure (none of them were aviavlabe for my rpecise model of player last time i looked, ie a month ago)

hmmm, I guess having to buy old/used equipment occasionally has its advantages
