I have bought the first season!
I am planning to watch (at least) the first ep tonight. (Though I am disturbed to see that some eps on the dvd have been 'edited' cf what was shown on tv originally. So grrrrr at that.)

Deadwood worth watching yes. May possibly be one of the best written television anythings of all time. Definitely one of the very best I've ever seen.

Is Zach Braff a joke name, or have I been living under a rock again?
ext_14712: (is there no doubt left)

Oooh! Deadwood = LOVE!

Seriously, I'm completely enamored with the show...but then again I have the sort of brain that skips right over cussing. *facepalms* I once told my mother that Good Will Hunting only had the word 'fuck' in it four times. Boy was THAT ever hilarity later!

Anyway, Deadwood. This show is so well-written it hurts. By the second season I found myself frequently amazed at the brilliance of the dialogue; so much of what is said carries layer upon layer of meaning within the context of the story.

By and large the acting is perfection. These are not nice people, but you end up falling completely in love with them regardless.

Oh dear, I could blather on about story lines and characters, but I'd rather not spoil you. Suffice it to say that...as with any show...if it's not to your taste you won't like it. *shrug* For me, however, it's simply one of my favorites.

Now if only the DVD's wouldn't cost $90 per season. *shakes fist at HBO*
ext_14712: (you make it hurt)

the dvd store assumes no one knows it, so they're selling it half price.
Oh.My.Mercy....JEALOUSY!

The season is maybe 13 one-hour episodes...something I'm hard-pressed to consider spending nearly $90 for. But if you can get it at a price that nice I'd totally go for it.

Ahem...if you end up hating it I'll buy them off you. *smiles sweetly*
