he is TOTALLY gay, ahah, but i still am quite fond of the simon/kaylee in the film... mainly because the "hell with this, i'm gonna live scene!" gives me so much glee, because it's set up as this big romantic "I NEVER TOLD YOU I'M IN LOVE WITH YOU!" conversation, and ends up "you mean to say... SEX?" and he's like "duh, what else?"

and then the scene at the end is so hyper-constructed like a romance novel cover... it just... compounds the way i see kaylee and simon's relationship already. Theirs is not the long-suffering meant-to-be-together-forever love. in the so-called wooing stages (in the series), they both just act like awkward teenagers who think they ought to be together because that's what grown-ups do... with the 'pay-off' in the movie, it strikes me that they'll screw themselves exhausted for a bit, then settle down much more comfortably not-shagging now that they've got that phase out of their systems.

i've been waiting for WEEKS to have spoilery conversations with people!! the warning was to ensure we could do it without complaint :D the complaint wasn't actually mine.

I thought they used Jayne for comic relief too often. He shoulda been scarier.
I will NEVER buy Simon/Kaylee. SHe's better off with the battery run thingies.

i think that's the risk of such a big ensemble cast; that characters have to make token appearances and turn into things like the comic relief or voice of reason. I liked Jayne in the reaver fight scene! but i think the majority of characters were relatively token (unless, i guess, you knew them already and were able to read in more to their behaviour than just "DOCTOR" or "MECHANIC") because the film was so much about Mal and River...

and i think that maybe if you didn't already know Jayne, he would have been scarier... i mean, if you didn't know he *always* bitched about Mal's command, you could quite possibly feel he was a threat to the crew, you know?

Just got back and... I mean, I thought that ROTK was the worst emotional torment I would ever endure in a theatre... and I was wrong.

I loved it, but I'm having trouble dealing. The dinosaurs were still there...

That being said, it was a good movie. Really, really good.

i know, the first time is just so, so painful... guh! the second time is pretty awful, too... heck, is painful every time.

I'm so thankful that Joss is brave enough to make a movie like that...

And that being said, I've also got to say that I have never been prouder of any fandom I've ever been a part of. Considering how many people saw screenings, and for there to be no spoilers at all (at least not that I saw...) it was awesome.

yeah, i think that serenity proves (amongst other things) that joss is not a sell-out. i respect him, and the show, more than if there'd just been a happy ending.

browncoats were pretty damn good about the spoilers, weren't they? i think because it *was* such a huge impact, the way he did it and all, that... knowing would ruin what was such a powerful moment, a powerful feeling.

I know the first time I saw it, I couldn't really talk about it (or anything) for, like, a day and a half. I suspect other people may be suffering this same fate. :)
