hope: Art of a woman writing from tour poster (mind the rift)
I have been working with [livejournal.com profile] curriejean on setting up [livejournal.com profile] tw_kinkandseek, a community for collecting and collating Torchwood fic by KINK.

The way it works is that you claim a kink you like, then go out and hunt down all the stories with it you can find, perhaps pulling out a few to rec as your favourites.

Then you post to the community in the timeslot you also claimed (so hopefully, it'll keep trundling on for a while instead of fizzling), the post gets tagged and each story you link to gets bookmarked in the kinkandseek delicious account, too.

Find out more about what it's all about, or just go ahead and claim a kink now :D

I want this to work! It'll be super-cool! Come and play!

In other news, Transformative Works and Cultures [journal] have just released their Supernatural issue! Even not being in the fandom any more, I've had a poke around and enjoyed a bunch of the articles now. It's super-solid. And you also get to read this awesome interview with me & my fellow Supernatural Wiki admins.

It was funny doing that, because Deb totally came to it like, "so, tell me about how you handle the CONFLICT of managing a wiki!" and we were like, "conflict? what conflict? this is UTOPIA!" ♥Super-wiki

and then we set the pudding on fire

The Torchwood festive fic exchange that [personal profile] cupidsbow and I are running, [livejournal.com profile] mistletw, is still open for you to leave your requests for five more days (or four, depending on what timezone you're in!).

I know that a lot of people that have left requests already are waiting until after the closing date before claiming which ones they will write for, so don't be discouraged if you're scrolling through. Prompt claiming closes on December 31! And then posting is open til the 10th of January.

COME AND PLAY.

In other news, I think that when people write about alien or futuristic sex toys coming through the rift, they should be writing about these. (Jack comes from a time/culture of high-tech steampunk revival, y/y?)

Blogs I'm enjoying a lot right now:

A Photography Blog - collections of awesome images. I want to print them all out and surround myself with them at all times.

Bibliodyssey - collections of images and typography from old books, in hi res.

Web comics I'm enjoying a lot right now:

Hark! A Vagrant! - a history geek's hilarious takes on figures and events in history.

Small Peculiar - a bit like xkcd, but a neurotic girl instead of nerdy boy.

Fannish!

Bluebird by [livejournal.com profile] basingstoke - an incredibly creepy and brilliant Addams Family/Torchwood crossover. Seriously awesome. [livejournal.com profile] basingstoke needs to write Torchwood fic ALL THE TIME.

worn once by [livejournal.com profile] euclase - gorgeous Ianto fanart.

Seriously, I did a university degree in creative art, including several semesters of visual art - drawing, painting, printing, 3D - and still find myself wistfully thinking, whenever I see fanart I love, "sigh, I wish I could draw, maybe I should take an art class.." *headdesk*

THIS CRACKS ME UP ENDLESSLY:

I just want an icon of Ianto flying endlessly past on a white background, seriously.

The banner is for this SPOILERY Children of Earth fic challenge which makes me want to write for it more than any challenge has for several years mainly due to its awesomely hilarious rules.

TOTALLY DOING THAT.

Also in awesome (nonspoilery) fanart news: Ianto Jones: Battle Butler and what time IS it, ianto jones?

Sometimes deviantart gives me a massive happy. Then I lose all patience with the browsing process and don't visit it for another six months.

ION, progress on the 5 things fic is being made; need to shunt out one part and write a new one, but on plus side that means I get to post an outtake too!

Presently confounded by choosing a non-spoilery, non-boring title for it, and yaknow, getting around to write a last part for it.

Speaking of procrastination, I think it's time for breakfast.

Isn't it?

Have decided that that bit of Torchwood canon where Capns JH spent 5 years together in a time loop played out something like Armstrong & Miller.

Oooo.

And another shippy promo shot! (Finally omg, a pose where they're facing each other.) Though, JB's face looks to have had a serious case of the photoshoppery. Oh, promo shoots.

Jack/Ianto promo photo for Torchwood S3.

I can't stop laughing. It's sort-of like Jack went "hay! let's pose like I'm a quarterback and you're the prom queen!" And Ianto's expression as the shutter goes is "why do YOU get to stand there? you're not the top!"

I think GDL fails at "this is my serious world-saving face for use in promo shots". He always looks disgruntled. But not disgruntled in an "i'm surrounded by idiots" way, more of an "I think you just farted" way.

I wish they'd gone the whole hog with the cheesy couple photography. Had one of them sitting on a chair and both beaming. (For example, like this! Gwen could be the floaty angelic child.)

Stephen Fry is trapped in a lift somewhere in London.

Naturally, he's twittering about it every few seconds.

How awesome is this girl on the end at the right? She's clearly about a head above the rest - that's why they've made her stand in the gutter - she has patent leather shoes and a leopard-fur coat. And she's clearly going to fuck your shit up if you mess with her.

RUN AWAY WITH ME, RIFLE LADY!
