ARGH.

so you may or may not have noticed that dombillijah.com has been down of late. it’s not letting me login to admin panel, even - just telling me that ‘domain name has been suspended’.

So I emailed help desk, and finally got a response: Your hosting account has been terminated due, because the account has been generated spam email.

with an example or two of some crappy spam email with some crappy, hijacked email address like EasyWeightLoss@dombillijah.com.

fucking RAR. like. I am going to email again, at least in an attempt to save all the data that was on there, maybe move it elsewhere... but, just. argh. I am mad, and feel yucky. fucking GRR.

ayyyy-yiyyyy-yiyyyyyy wtf?

have they never heard of faked return addresses?

I suppose it's possible someone could have hacked your applications, but that's really something the hosting company should help with, not punish.

If my day-job clout will help in any way, pls to let me know.

How incredibly stupid! Good luck getting it sorted.

I was just recently trying to get on that site and wondered what happened.

Good luck with retrieving all the goodies!

That's ridiculous! Shouldn't they try and get in touch with you first?! Grrrrrr!

Aw, honey, I'm sorry. Having worked for an ISP, though, whoever was doing your hosting was awfully quick to suspend your site for suspected spammage. There was a huge amount of faked-return-address spam coming out of bkwyrm.net for a while, and the sysadmin fiddled with settings until it stopped.

There are lots of other hosting places with much more sane policies - spoofed return-address messages are so commonplace now that I'm amazed that an ISP would suspend an account because of them. That's just stupid, and bad for business.

Those arseholes. You shouldn't be punished for something that wasn't your fault and couldn't be prevented.

I know this isn't funny, but I keep imagining the fucksome trio being touted as a way to lose weight.
