After being trapped in a cherry-picker cage a kilometre underground since a collapse two weeks ago, two miners were freed & brought to the surface about an hour and a half ago. They walked out. It was only discovered they were still alive a week ago.

After hearing that on my 6am radio alarm, there’s no way I’m getting back to sleep.

There's stuff on all the free-to-air TV stations at the moment, if you want to watch. It's the first time in forever that I've leapt out of bed within a minute or so of the alarm going off.

Our TV is currently behind at least forty full clothes horses. Amen to the leaping-out-of-bed thing.

The Tv coverage was pretty out there.

I can't say it's soemthing I'd get out of bed for, but I have found it interesting.

I haven't seen any of the TV coverage for it - just picked up updates through the occassional newspaper and radio news broadcast. So haven't been all that susceptible to the media frenzy! survival stories just give me a happy.

i just can't care that much. whoop de fucking do! i mean, they discovered they were alive, and have been sending them food for the last week or so, and have had pretty constant contact with them. it was only a matter of time. besides, one of them is called BRANT! I dunno, as much as I hate being manipulated by the media, I'm a sucker for the survival stories. I managed to avoid most of the gratuitous media glut for this one, but it still gave me a happy to think of them back in the open air again after 2 weeks underground in a tiny cage.

yar, I ought to feel so elated for surviving third world orphans too, but yeah. who knows?
