Every time I see a meta around of "OMG! What if Darth Vader the Demon really IS Sam's father?" I get kinda sulky and peevish, because dude, I conspiracy-theoried that in February (see also: my constant referall to 'cuckoos').

I say this with a tone of mild indignance because I remember when I mentioned it i was CRUELLY CUT DOWN with cries of "that's stupid!" or, okay, more like "there's no WAY John isn't Sam's father!"

Until, well, you mostly convinced me.

Mainly I'm doubtful that that conspiracy theory is true at *this* point, because I honestly don't think there's any way that they'll make Sam and Dean *not brothers*. (Partly, because that's just too GAY for tv.) I think there might be some doubt introduced, to ramp up the angst, but... Sam will still be Dean's brother, and John's son.

I'll still use the 'cuckoo' term, though, because there *is* something about those kiddies, and Celine *was* there for a reason at some point. blah blah blah, familial symbology, etc.

Okay, that's enough bitter-old-fangirl for today *g*

February? Honey, when I first joined the fandom back in October or November, that was the very first theory I encountered. If you really want to be a bitter old fangirl, you have to show proof that you thought of it before the Pilot aired. ;)

Possession-type thing rather than straight up demon sexes? same parents in straight biology, but that shiny extra level of Demon. Sammy Has Three Parents sort of thing.

Then again, even if they did go with straight-out cuckooing, I'd call bulltweedie on anybody going 'BUT ITS NOT INCEST NOW SO ITS OKAY', because um, hi, there's more to siblingry than blood relation. :|

i find gay incest a little more purely intellectual in the Ew factor than straight incest, since they're not exactly going to breed, so all blood relation is affecting is the headspace in which they're approaching (and others are viewing) the relationship. though i could be oversimplifying. i can never quite decide how i feel about incest anyway. x.X

good point :o I'd like to think the same-mother aspect should cover them on it, but the number of times I've been asking whether my sisters are my "real" sisters suggests it might not. D: would be interesting to see how they'd deal without a safety net.

I don't know. For half-demon spawn, the Demon has very little control over them and their lives. Have you ever thought about it the other way around? That Sam and the other children were maybe blessed, were special, have the stink of Good on them, and the Demon is trying to either destroy them or subvert them, to change them however it can? To bend them to its purpose? (And it really can't do much, just set fires and move stuff around, really. Subtly influence people. The Father of Lies and all that.)

YES. this is pretty much my theory on it, now. The Demon didn't *make* 'all the children like you' special. they were already special. he's just trying to hitch a ride :)

I honestly think I might be the only one in the fandom who thinks that it'd be unbelievably cool if it turned out that Sam and Dean and not fully biologically related but still brothers in every other sense of the word. I actually had plans to write a series of fic involving that sort of "what if?" situation until the real possibility surfaced in canon. I'm going to wait and see what Kripke has in store for us.

Actually, didn't realise you'd been "mostly convinced" Angstslashhope, otherwise I would have spoken up as lone voice of dissentiness etc. I have heard people saying they don't like the say, half-brothers theory, because it's not as cesty? Uh, no.

I have multiple contradictory universes in my head, but at least one of them is Sam & Dean are half-bro's (with a secondary, that oops, Dean has an ex in one of the other cuckoo children - which kinda weirds Sam out, and would be an excuse to meta about the nature of siblinghood etc).

Another, is 'Sam Has Two Daddies' (John was possessed by Celine Demon or something, or it had his form - it totally had John's shape while standing over the cradle).


I do wonder why I haven't seen much (any?) "they're half-brothers" fic, AU or not.
I think it's because it's still too cesty for the "they're not really brothers" AU'ers, and not cesty enough for the wincesters.
