My favorite of my own stories this year:
I think Three times the Winchesters were definitely not equine, no way should probably get that prize. I had so much fun writing it, I really like each of the parts a lot and re-read it a fair bit myself.
My best story this year:
In Memoriam: June 1988, I think. It really felt like that story came together and worked, even with my overly-schmoopiness.
Story most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
I think probably 6. It kind of came out in the middle of my long fic-silence, though. But also, I think it could have been much better if I wasn’t so rusty at writing at that point.
Most fun story:
Socktacular, Socktacular. Bwah! It was a long time ago that I wrote it (most of the stories on this list were written in the first four months of the year, sigh!), but I do recall being filled with glee at the thought of it and cackling many times during the writing of it. Though there were so many fun, cracky stories this year.
Most sexy story:
Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps, I guess. OT3, yay! It was this time last year that I actually *posted* that story!!
Story with single sexiest moment:
God, I can’t remember! The only stories with sex in them are Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps and Serendipity (or some crap).
Hardest story to write:
The challenge fics, of course. Emptying the Bowl, Straying From the Beaten Path and Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps.
"Holy crap, that's wrong even for you" fic:
I don’t know! there wasn’t anything that outrageous this year. Socktacular, Socktacular had spooge in socks? Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps had a father/sons incestuous threesome? But none of them fit the “even for you” bit of this category.
Fic that shifted my own perceptions of the characters:
Probably Straying From the Beaten Path, I think. I wasn’t the happiest with it when I first finished it, but talking to people about it afterward made me reconsider the story itself.
Biggest disappointment:
Not writing all the stories I wanted to this year. Mini_nano not spurring me to write things longer than a few hundred words.
Biggest surprise:
The feedback & recs I got on Straying From the Beaten Path. I really was unimpressed with it myself!
Most telling story:
Tomorrow Never Knows is not far from my own spiritual experience of driving :) I think that’s one of the reasons I love the show - its intimate relationship with the road.
What's next?
I really want to write that woodcutter story I have been toying with for months (and wrote bits of for mini-nano). But first I need to get me mojo back.
