Fanworks I am proud of creating:

  • EVP: Supernatural Fic Podcast
I put this together back in 2006, organising and editing together an issue every fortnight for a handful of months. In hindsight, whoa. (I was writing a thesis, running a wiki, vidding and writing at the same time.) That was fun. Wish I had the energy to do something like that again!

  • SupernaturalWiki
While [personal profile] missyjack basically runs this now, I still host it and am so proud of how far it's come since I set it up. The wiki gets over 300K visitors per month, at about a 50/50 split of new and regular visitors, and has over 2000 articles. And no wank! It's a pretty damn awesome community and site.

  • Firefly fic: Stroke of Luck
I still love this epic Jayne/Simon AU I wrote. In hindsight, I cringe a bit that I didn't even have it beta read, but I still have a great fondness for and proudness of it.

  • Merlin fic: Along a Wandering Wind
The longest thing I've every written, and I think I worked harder on this fic than any other I've ever written. At this point in time, it's definitely my favourite of all my fanworks.

  • Torchwood fic: We Happy Few
The second-longest thing I've written, that also had a lot of hard work go into it. It was so satisfying to write this - the culmination of a million shit-talking story-telling conversations had with friends about the adorable ridiculousness of team Torchwood.

  • Torchwood/pulp novel mashup fanart
I love making fanart, I don't do enough of it. These still make me so happy to look at, and make me pine for doing more art like this.

Post the names of all the files in your WIP folder, regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous. Feel free to ask about anything and I'll tell you the premise or paste you a tidbit [don't need encouragement for that!] for any of these.

WIP names, with snippets where possible. All Merlin, natch )

Ok! So I'm going to try this. It's supposed to be "30 days", but fuck that - I'll post them whenever. Meme stolen from [livejournal.com profile] rexluscus.

1 – How did you first get into writing fanfic, and what was the first fandom you wrote for? What do you think it was about that fandom that pulled you in?

Doing this belatedly because my holiday schedule has slowed down a bit, and my writing neurons are firing, and my typing fingers need warming up, so:

Pick one of my [Merlin] stories and a timestamp sometime in the future after the end of the story, or sometime in the past before the story started, and I'll write you at least a hundred words of what happened then, whether it's five minutes before the story started or ten years in the future. Can be from any character POV i.e anyone in the fic.

My Merlin fic is here.

(Amusingly: iOS not only autocorrects 'feedback' to 'feedbag', but 'Merlin' to 'Merkin'.)

Annual Fic Meme (2010 Edition)

I wasn't going to do this, seeing as I wrote practically nothing last year, but then it turns out I wrote a lot in January! And would be breaking a 5-year tradition if I didn't do this. So, here we go.

I have a stack of unpublished Torchwood snippets and bits of WIPs that are going to languish forever, now. Should I publish them somewhere? As various chapters on AO3, perhaps? Or on this journal? Eh, I don't know, I think the Torchwood-on-my-flist boat has sailed, now, so it's possibly not even worth it. Still, leaving them completely unknown makes me twitch a bit. (As does the thought of publishing something dodgy and unfinished, so eh.)

My thread on the (anon) id meme - where you tell me what id themes you see recurring in my work. Meep!

Speaking of id, as I think I'm winding down my Torchwood writing, I'm reflecting more on how my writing's evolved while I've been in this fandom, and have been thinking about writing a how-to write porn how *I* write porn post. Kind of like a post-mortem for *me* to reflect on and document what I'm thinking about with the methods and construction of the massive amount of porn writing I've done in the past 12 months.

And, I suppose I've got a lot of comments about people enjoying reading it, so I would feel happy about giving back something that exposed/detailed the construction of it if people would find it interesting/useful. DOCUMENTATION SKILLZ. I has it. Sometimes.

Time to do the photo meme again! I love this one.

Leave a comment asking me to photograph something. It can be specific (e.g. my kitchen), or more general (e.g. my favourite blue-coloured thing). If at all possible, I will try to fill all requests before the end of 3W4DW.*

Feel free to copy & paste the above if you'd like to do this meme, too!

* Requests for more personal/identifying images will be fulfilled for drollers only, and posted protected.

WIP Meme. Again.

I've not done any writing for a while. Not that I don't have a million things on the go, still. Many of them that are still on the go from last time (le sigh!).

The usual (of the moment, anyway) - all Torchwood, all the time. Excerpts from works in progress below the cut.

Then of course there's the tropical holiday one, which I've not made ANY progress on whatsoever; the psychic paper wooing one which I still reeeally want to write, with the same deal; the timestamp for the circus AU; the Ianto/Owen/Tosh co-written porn which is happily taking the long road; the orgy-tastic continuation of the space opera universe; and about a million other ideas I'd love to write but have never put words down for.

Hopefully when I get back home I'll be in a headspace where I can properly relax and be inspired to write again.

I just signed up for [livejournal.com profile] dvd_commentary! Have at anything you like.

*pokes through author list*

Though, you know, I've also been hankering for remixing, lately. But I know I missed the multifandom remix challenge. It's sort of tempting to set up something similar to dvd_commentary for remixing - rather than an exchange, just a chart of people who are open to have their stories remixed, and a place to post them. Then let whoever feels like it just have at it, without a time limit, or anyone relying on you. hmm?

ETA: Okay, seriously, if I were to set up such a remix comm, would anyone be interested in co-modding? I'd be looking for the simplest, lowest-maintenance way of running it.

Also, tell me if something like this already exists?

Timestamp meme!

Give me one of my own stories, and a timestamp sometime in the future after the end of the story, or sometime in the past before the story started, and I'll tell you what happened then, whether it's five minutes before the story started or ten years in the future.

For present fandom only, though. Torchwood fic masterlist here, or alternately on Dreamwidth.

I feel like I've created a million places to play in, but don't know where to start, so have at it!

WIP meme

Been a while since I've done this meme. I have a few things on the go, so it's actually worth doing again!

And also, it's a tried and true method of procrastinating. Or, you know, "overcoming writer's block".

The WIPs (all Torchwood, all the time. Well, except for where they crossover with Doctor Who): Read more... )

So, those are the ones I've started and think I'll be finishing. Onto the ones I've not started but want to:
  • The one where Ianto inadvertently woos Jack after finding his psychic paper.
  • Cyborg!Ianto.
  • More in this verse.
  • The one in an alternate reality where they're all born the opposite sex.

And then there's the other list of ideas that I look wistfully at but realise that they've passed their prime, now... Work faster, brane!

I like this meme. It makes me think about... stuff.

hope: pre-raphaelite painting of woman combing her hair (Pre-Raphaelite grooming)
Post a single sentence from each WIP you have (or as many as you want to pick). No context, no explanations. No more than one sentence!

  • The gaslights outside the big top catch the silver pommel of the the whip hanging at her hip as she steps through a tent flap, letting it drop again behind her.

  • She's wearing the same clothes as she was yesterday, but their familiarity is strange, like looking at a photograph taken years ago.

  • Her one visible eye gleams at Gwen in the low light, behind her the dark locks of her hair are spread across the linen like cracks in ice.

  • System: 0096753

I has exactly 600 words of circus!torchwood!

Impromptu meme

hope: Art of a woman writing from tour poster (sam on the pianola?)
Recently I watched Singin in the Rain again, because [livejournal.com profile] kphoebe hadn't seen it! It's the most fabulous, gayest, poly-est film ever (ok, debatable, but still), and I love it. Definitely my favourite musical.

So, an impromptu meme-thing! for my entertainment :D

1. Go to YouTube

2. Search for your favourite number in your favourite musical

3. Embed it in a comment here for me. (Or, you know. If you're that excited, post about it in your LJ, but link me back to it!)

4. If you can't decide/have a shortlist; embed one and link to the others.

here are mine )

OK GO.

"Because we never really know each other as well as we think, in response to this post I'd like you to ask a question. Anything about which you are curious, anything you feel you ought to know about me. Silly, serious, personal, fannish. Ask away. Then, if you want, copy this to your own journal, and see what people don't know about you."
