Sammy drops the spoon John holds his breath, waiting for tears and emergency-siren wails but when he turns his head slightly to look he sees Sammy's face mirroring his own, wide-eyed and kinda startled. They start laughing at the same time Sam, he just never does what John expects.
I am making tiny high-pitched noises usually associated with small, cute, and fluffy things, like... kittens, and ducklings. Small, cute and fluffy Winchesters probably don't make these kinds of noises, mind you. *flaily* This is just so... sweet and lovely and wee!Sammy and wee!Dean and! What more can anyone ask for? *pets them*
(This has a depth and acceptance of, you know, the unhappinesses of their lives that makes it an awful lot more solid than pure fluff, applied with a fair hand. Wonderful job.)
Oh how I love wee Winchesters! I love the whole description of John trying to settle Dean with one hand, and the description of standing there while Sammy falls asleep. But this line: Even if he wakes up sprawling in the morning, it doesn't matter any more; Dean'll be in the crib, sure as the sun's risen. was the one that made me "AWWWWW" out loud! *g*
Alright. I was going to comment on the image of baby Sammy's face after he and John bonked heads...but then you also added in Sammy's grip on the hair behind John's ear...and really? You've got the actions of babies down PAT.
Also - seriously...daddy!John is so the best John.
You have no idea how happy that comment makes me. Mainly because I'm writing this story that is turning into a freaking novel set in 1984... aka, when Sammy is a baby! And I have been angsting about getting baby behaviour/development down right. So this? makes me feel better :D
I'm surprised by how much I've taken to daddy!John, myself. *shakes head*
awww, I just want to hug all three of them and never let go. They are hurting so much. But Sammy is cute as a baby! Thanks for this short little look at their lives. It was great!

Oi, you. Stop that. That hurts!
I love a fandom that can fill the unspoken spaces so well.
