Author's Notes: This was written for the spn_remix challenge, and originally posted here. The original story, Lacuna, is awesome, innie_darling constructs such a sharp view of Dean and his family and his life, as well as such a real, both delightful and poignant look at Cassie and their failed relationship. It really is such a fabulous piece, filling in the gaps of that part in Dean's life so deftly. It was so great to be able to come at the 'verse she created from a different angle :)

Thank you to derryderrydown for the uber-quick beta. I was a pinch-hitter for this challenge, which meant I was assigned an author in the morning, hammered out a story, sent it off that night. So apologies for the wee errors in the version over at spnremixfics. I have a good excuse!
