hope: Art of a woman writing from tour poster (i(mpala) want to believe)
I took a break from monitoring all the talk pages and issue-logging and admin honing on Fanlore today (though I did a lot of *all* of that as well) to make a page myself. That's right! I actually got to put content in Fanlore! Thus far I've only really created stubs, I've been resisting the urge to do a proper page because I knew that once I was sucked in, it'd be hard to extract myself and get back to admin.

But it was for a good cause this time, we're struggling to rein in the amount of canon material that's cropping up on the wiki, and needing some example pages to demonstrate just how much fandom material we want (and how little canon, in comparison).

So! I spent a lot of this afternoon making a Fanlore entry for The Faculty fandom.

It's been almost 5 years since I was in that fandom, but I dredged up my old memories of it (and my old Yahoo!Groups login details) to try and get down some records on it.

I think I largely succeeded, but any other Faculty fans on the flist (I know you're out there still), feel free to make corrections and add material. (ETA: [livejournal.com profile] vshendria & [livejournal.com profile] baylorsr, there are sections on Borderlines & Birthright on there, if you want to check it out and/or add more details/statistics.) My knowledge etc finishes around 2004, I did include what statistics I could grab from more recent years, but - especially considering that faculty-fic traffic has jumped up again - I think I need to get the newer fans in to add their stuff to it.

Also, I am pretty sure I remember there being a fair amount of chibi Faculty fanart out there, a whole fandom outside the one I knew and loved. I'd love to be able to include information about that on the entry, but I'm not sure where those communities are or how to approach them. Is there a community around DeviantArt spaces, or non-Western communities? Anyone who knows - please, speak up!

All in all, though, whee! That was fun. Now, do I give myself the rest of the evening off or do I try and switch back to admin work? oof.

...And then they made me their chief.

Here, have another snip of what's rapidly becoming The Great Torchwood Year-That-Wasn't Crackfic of Lengthliness (AKA Tosh Is Awesome And Has Sex With Everyone [Except Jack, That Bastard]):

If I post and email everyone about it, then I'm actually THINKING about it, therefore I'm more likely to write it, see?

Last night I decided that it should be in past tense, therefore I should try and convert the entire thing to past tense, instead of being all over the place like it was. After changing a couple thousand words, I FORGOT WHAT PAST TENSE WAS. I was changing words and I had no idea if I was meant to. My brain, WHAT.

Now I don't know if I want to have it in past tense after all. The first bit was, but then once I got into it I'd slipped into present tense again. *hands*

Also, it's growing so quickly because I keep getting ideas for scenes so I just tack them onto the end of the document to deal with later. Meanwhile, the planned progression for the plot is waiting further up the document for me to continue with it. The document now has over 6600 8000 (WOT) words in it, altogether. Eep!

Also, I want to share the best bits, like Tosh making Ianto cry by trying to throttle him in a fit of rage, but I don't want to spoil them. *heavy sigh*

My life, so hard.
