Alright, I’m about to email my parents and ask them to get me:
Veronica Mars
Wonderfalls
Dead Like Me
In the Cut (it’s ridiculously expensive here)
a couple of other things: should i ask them to get me Battlestar Galactica? (and is that link to the one I should be looking for? is it even available on dvd yet?)
and is the second season of Deadwood available on DVD yet? is Rome?
and, any other suggestions while i’m at it?

Don't think Deadwood's second seasons is out on DVD yet in the States, even. And I think Rome's still showing in the States, so probably ain't out on DVD yet either.

Playmakers was also a really excellent show.. cancelled after one season, though.

If you're asking solely on the basis of is it good, then Yes, YES, ask them to get it for you. I don't know about if the DVD set has been put together nicely, but I really enjoyed S1. And if you can get the mini-series, get it too (although you don't need it to enjoy S1, I think).
If you're looking for sci-fi, you might want to check out Stargate:Atlantis. Although I am not sure if they have the entire season on DVD yet (I'd check for you, but I'm on super-slow dialup right now, and it would take me two years or something).

FARSCAPE.
Dude, have you ever seen any Farscape? It is literally my favorite show of all time, topping all the Joss-verse (though only just barely), and X-Files and everything else that I was ever hardcore hooked on.

It's a Simon vid someone just pointed out to me, done to "Teeth In The Grass" by Iron & Wine. Thought you'd enjoy it -- it's v. v. shiny.
