So yeah, Devil's Trap on the tele just now.
Oh goddamn show. GODFREAKINGDAMN.
The performances are so fucking awesome in this episode. Like. I DIE. I DIE AND DIE. Though, yeah, Paddywhack's beat-up!Sam makeup is a bit... interesting, Jensen's Dean OH HOLY FUCK and yeah, JDM is so freaking awesome. Like, something that creeped me out the first time and continues to creep me out everytime I see/think about this episode? Those tiny little nuances he's got down. Like, the Demon constantly doing that little tongue-dart to the split in John's lip, to taste his blood. ashdlsfga.
Or like, another tiny moment in Dead Man's Blood, where he finally decides to let up and tell the boys about the Colt... he's all "so..." *tiny eye-roll like oh my god, I can't believe I have to do this* "... you boys really wanna hear about the Colt?"
LOVE.
AUGHHH BAD MOON RISING.
Ahem, okay, hi. it's finished now. Hey! closing credits! it has them! with music! hah.
Know what else I love?
- That the 'Sunrise' sign is shaped and decorated like Citizen Kane's sled.
- That shot when Sam is doing the exorcism, and there's the zoom in on the flipping pages of the book? TOTALLY DIRECTLY FROM EVIL DEAD.
- Also, yes, after another viewing (on an actual television, no less), I'm leaning more toward what
ladyjaida pointed out; Dean saying "Dad... Daddy don't let it kill me." (emphasis mine) Also because, liek, I could hear other things on the tele that I don't remember hearing on the computer, like Sam's ickle whimpers as Dean's hauling him up after nearly being tenderised to death.
- Also also, I've said it before and I'll say it again: chuckleheads, meat-suit, sucks out loud.
Here's a bit of trivia: Kim Manners directed that episode. Kim Manners also produced 21 Jump Street. HAH!

And? Yes, the acting in that episode is fanfuckingtastic. I honestly have trouble looking at caps of Dean in his scenes with Meg because the look on his face actually makes me shudder. And his eyes? The entire episode if you look at his eyes he just looks like he's aboout three seconds away from completely snapping. It's very obvious that what he said to Sam at the end of Salvation was true; he's just barely keeping it together.
And gah, don't even get me started on JDM. The head tilt, the way he held himself, the tongue... I have love. Immense, immense love.

and frick, yeah, Dean, just.... (clearly by the comma overload, I am overwhelmed...) it was the kind of performance that just made me appreciate when dean *wasn't* like that during the most of the rest of the season. not like, i didn't *like* him in Devil's Trap, more that like "oh. THAT'S badass Dean. before that was mister nice guy" -and made you realise just how good he was at mister nice guy as well.
er, um. convoluted, much? hi.
