Wow, this is a wonderful series. I'll have to go back and read everything. The way you write Sam and Dean as kids is perfect and your John is just wonderful. This is so possible in the canon of the show and little Sam torn away from his family due to the best of intentions is just so heartbreaking to read. Great story :)

I needed all the hugs and John calling Sammy Baby Boy after all the pain! My chest hurt from Sammy's grief for his Dad & Dean.

But I love Sam wrapping himself around Dad - and I can picture Dean carefully making up a little nest of blankets for Sammy in the back seat - he must have been just as scared and missing his brother - although at least he had his Dad.

And Mr Bun! Yay!

Oh, and Nathan & Peter? When Peter pushes his hair out of the way - why am I picturing Peter Petrelli?

oh, sammy. i love his little-kid narrative voice, how he's worried about the adults believing him and then how he just wants his dad and his brother. i even like how everyone misunderstands his bruises and puts him in what seems like a good home because they care about him, because it reads like something that could've happened.

Yeah, there isn't really a 'bad guy' in this story. But when it comes down to it, it's WINCHESTERS WINCHESTERS WINCHESTERS. and anything that comes in the way of them sticking together is just an obstacle that needs to be beaten back. Oh, Sammy.

God, there was a moment there where I seriously thought this was going to go AU? I don't ever need my heart to break like that again, however I see you have ficced a couple other times today, SO I GUESS IT'S JUST GOING TO. *tiny broken noises* But then you fixed it! And I just. *handgrabby* The way some of Sam's behaviours, like especially the salt cellar thing, could be so misinterpreted by these wellmeaning strangers, I think was the thing that really got me for some reason.

yah, obviously I don't have the expertise of knowing exactly what happens when kids are removed from homes (damn... meant to put in a disclaimer about that), but generally it's not because the Big Bad wants to spirit them away. I tried to make myself aware of that throughout, and how Sam would be trying to level that in his own head; I don't think John would have taught him that these people are BAD people, but how to explain that it doesn't make the Winchesters BAD by having to lie to them? etc.

I am fond of my wee boys also. I miss having wee children around.
