Al scares me somewhat. at first i was like "wow, this is really good, i don't think i've hated a character this much ... ever." but it's a weird kind of hate - i don't hate him because he's badly characterised, but because he's an arsehole. but on the same token, he's such a fabulous character that i can't really hate him.

anyway, i'm pretty damn fond of all those motherfucking cocksuckers.

He's sort of the character you love to hate and also hate to love, only normally with most characters it's one or the other -- with Al it's both. It's sort of genius. At first I just loved to hate him. Then, all of a sudden, it whipped some hateful love out on me. That show is so great. They'd better not EVER cancel it like they cancelled Carnivale or I will have some serious bludgeons words with HBO >.>;

I was always full of woe because I was not the biggest Alma fan and thus the Great Wooby Wuv that is Bullock and Sol Star (ps they were SO REALLY GAY in real life!) got all mucked with. But then, I loved Trixie, so I was like "Well, okay, whatever."

! tell me about the SO REALLY GAY in real life!? Bullock already totally cheated on Sol with Wild Bill anyway; theirs is that kind of relationship. Sol just kind of looks on with his little hat while bullock angsts all over everyone, then comes back to bed at the end of the day anyway.

I don't mind Alma. The I'm-civil,-no-really dance her and bullock do around eachother amuses me greatly.

trixie is cool. i think the trixie/al relationship is really what makes al for me.

I was watching one of the DVD extras on the history behind Deadwood or whatnot and it's like "Montana and Sol Star never really got married. They were always together as friends for the rest of their lives." And my mother, watching it with me, was like "Pfft, friends, right." So they were like, you know, confirmed bachelors and lived with one another. Forever. "Friends" my incredibly white and somewhat pathetic ass.

i just heard about deadwood being good via word of mouth; it' not on free-to-air tv here, so no one really knows about it. it was under $40 at my local dvd store, so i decided to take a chance... in other words, i have absolutely no knowledge of the online support of deadwood at all. there needs to be fic, dammit, and websites with screencaps and icons and stuff! ho well.

Have you seen Carnivale, too, or no? Because they cancelled it after two seasons, which was the suckiest bucket of suck ever, but it is one of my favorite things the world has ever given me. It really just leaves you with a taste of dust and grit in your mouth and a feeling of sweat on the back of your neck and an uncomfortable itch between your shoulder-blades, where you want your own angel wings to be.

I'll stop waxing stupid on Carnivale now, though. I will ponder up some Deadwood fic for you. At the very least, some tom/doug. Which I keep meaning to write but have no little plotplans for.
