Help, Super-peeps!

eta: thanks for all the help :)

Fruits of all the labour here:

Super-canon: A Supernatural Canon Resource

I know I've seen these things kicking around, but I can't remember where.

I want to find out:

- The translation of the Latin inscription on the Colt: non timebo mala, and where its origins lie

- Speculation on the Bible verse on the Salvation sign: Are you ready for Judgement Day? JW 2.27

- That huge post someone made on the music used in SPN

I'm also looking for help with transcribing the Pad of Definitions. Any volunteers?

X-posted to [livejournal.com profile] spn_possession, which you should all be watching and posting at anyway.

1. "I will fear no evil", presumably from Psalm 23.

2. No help with that one, except that (as has been pointed out by others) there's no biblical book abbreviated JW.

I mean, that's the only thing I can think of that would make sense, but I'm stumped on the 2.27. I know there was a TWoP thread that went through pretty much every 2.27 in the Bible, but I don't think it came up with a whole lot (and definitely not that particular line). Then again, this is a props department that couldn't get together on the spelling of Fitchburg, so I'm not going to sweat it.

Are we sure it's from the bible? Do other books, although most likely just different editions of the bible, use that numbering system?

I did think though, Dean is 27. Didn't that number come up connected with something else in the show? Or was it 23?

I've found three 'music used in episodes' lists so far (in order fom oldest to newest):

shadow_walker3's (http://shadow-walker3.livejournal.com/5848.html#cutid1)

goldie_gal's (http://goldie-gal.livejournal.com/140393.html?style=mine)

and

keepaofthecheez's (http://keepaofthecheez.livejournal.com/128204.html?style=mine).

2. I can't link to who authored the meta but she/he/it said it could easily refer to Revelations 2:27.

And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.

*reads* Yeah, that's kinda freaky.

I bet JW is a shoutout to Joss Whedon, and including "vessels of a potter" rather than some other oogly-boogly scary thing is also multifannish.

I assume you've seen the whole season, so I will quote from a spoilery post I made before the finale aired.

"This roadsign has been the subject of much speculation over at the Television Without Pity forums. JW 2:27 isn't a standard reference to any chapter or verse in the bible. According to someone who frequents the TWoP boards, though, the JW might stand for Jehovah's Witness. The passage it might then refer to is Acts 2:27:

'Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine holy one to see corruption.'"

That ties in perfectly with the finale.
