Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezus. I can understand why you were so excited about these while you were writing them. Now I don't want to sleep when I'm the only one home, of course, because DUDE, CREEPY, but wow. These are what you get when you strip away the made-for-tv, the surviving-if-you're-the-star, and the teen-friendly sheen off the world of Supernatural. It's like you took the episode and held it up to the light and said "no, see, what you were looking at was cloudy. This is how it went."

I think number 3 hurt the most. At the end I wasn't sure which out of all of them I felt sorriest for.

I hope you're pimping this to every community around, dude.

What a great observation.. (sorry, just poking my head in here). When all is said and done, Supernatural is still a show on the WB, for crying out loud, and so yes, Dean and Sam will never die, and there will always be a silver lining of some kind. But take that away and there is potential for some true darkness with these boys. This fic definitely found that.

Sorry, I'll shush now *wanders off*

oh ladu, bravo!

Yay! Max fics! Have to say that my favorite is the first story because the Sam and Max interaction was great, plus we get Dean, left out and concerned. Great stuff.

So good but it broke my heart from the painfully creepy goodness of it all. You rock.

*speechless* This is so gorgeously written, so haunting and painful and totally creepy in a good way. All the characters, their voices and interactions, are just wonderfully right, familiar and consistent with how the show depicts them but new and revealing at the same time. It's such a striking answer to some of the darker possibilities raised by "Nightmare," by Max in particular and his connection to Sam. #1 and #4 had these wonderfully unsettling interactions between those two, #2 and #5 almost hurt to consider, and I think #3 might have broken me a little bit. Great story. :)

I like your stories!

But seriously :) These were great.. gen fic for SPN is just awesome, and this was all lush and filled with possibility and probability.. I especially loved the one with wee Dean and Max.

Nice work, bro.

I liked this.

2 made me hunch up and cry silently, it hurt so badly, I think largely because that is not an unlikely situation, they live so close to the edge and they get fucking lucky because yeah, it's TV, but just, Dean's so cocky and it could just go wrong at any minute and it's all just so damn fragile. That really drove that idea home, and damn, it hurt.

3 also made me feel like I'd been punched. Sammy died?? And Dean wanting so badly to protect Max and not understanding why they couldn't. And "you already have a brother" *whimpers*

And 5... oh God, 5 made me a MESS. Shaking and trying not to cry out loud because my brother's sleeping but..... again, the whole thing where they get so lucky all the time and they are one bad step away from DYING and oh God Sam's pain and aaaugh.

Basically, anything that can do that to me is brilliant. Really, really fantastic job... you tore my heart out and danced on it.

That was... painful. And I mean it as a compliment. Like what would happen if they didn't need to be the luckiest bastards ever all the time (because there's a show and neither of them can die without killing it), and in a way it all made more sense than what we saw happen. So sharp and painful that it left me very uneasy, too, and again, that's a compliment. Because not many stories manage to have such an impact on me. *bookmarks*

4 was just creepycreepy, 3 broke my heart a bit, 2 made me go "Dean you idiot!," 5 made me go "Sam you idiot!", and 1 made me go "well, yeah." All very different, all very seperately plausible, and possibly one of the best "5 things" ever. You are amazing, ma'am, and have you pimped this on communities? Because you totally should.

[identity profile] jamjar.livejournal.com 2006-07-07 10:35 am (UTC)(link)
Creepy and painful and gorgeous. The sort of thing where after, you kind of wish you hadn't read it, but also can't stop yourself from going back to read it all again.

[identity profile] sajee.livejournal.com 2006-09-11 12:48 pm (UTC)(link)
dude . . . number three!

*dies*

[identity profile] morbidmuse.livejournal.com 2006-12-15 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
Here via a rec page.

Holy crap. That was brilliant. I mean, really. You have a fascinating idea (five of 'em!) and you did a truly spectacular job with the execution. To be honest, the idea of Max haunting Sam like he does in part one makes almost too much sense. Great job with all of this.

*saves to memories*

Not a problem.

Oh, I wish I could help. But I've read so many rec pages in the last week or two for SPN that I really haven't a clue which one gave me the link for this story. I am pretty much brand new to the fandom (haven't even seen season two yet, which is why I searched out stories at the latest written during the summer) and have been seeking out the good stuff. I've gone through the memories of reccing communities like [livejournal.com profile] 37flavors, [livejournal.com profile] recs, [livejournal.com profile] rec50, [livejournal.com profile] polyfandomrecs, [livejournal.com profile] seedy_recs, [livejournal.com profile] spn_recs, and [livejournal.com profile] crack_van so it could have been from any of those. But I've also been randomly checking out the memories of some SPN fans on my friendslist and seeing which are their favorite stories so I guess it could have been from a rec list they had saved in their memories. Sorry I can't be of more help!

i'm glad it's not night time, and that my partner is here with me, because . . . JEEPERS CREEPERS! and that last one made me CRY! I DON'T WANNA CRY! i'm glad YOU don't write the show, wench! *g*

i can't believe i've not read this before, for is is made of the same awesomepants that seems to constitute all your writing.

these were amazing, all of them, brutal and wonderful.

I really hope John at least alerted Social Services.
