- I have plans for a pre-series Supernatural zine. Not another anthology, but a zine of previously-unpublished pre-series stories, all book like and prettified (I have lots of well-established plans for it, let's just say). However, I've been unsure of when to post about it/open up submissions, because it seems there's always a billion challenges and ficathons going on that are keeping other people busy. First it was NaNo, then Yuletide, now bigbang...
But, it'll take a lot of time anyway, so what do you reckon? Should I open submissions now with a deadline of like, June? (because I am going overseas, after all, so there's 6 weeks where I won't be so useful anyway.) That way folk can start thinking, leaving plenty of time for the writing, even if they've got other ficathons on right *now*.
Plus, I am going toaggressivelyapproach and/or plead with a bunch of my favourite pre-series authors to submit something anyway (consider yourselves WARNED).
Thoughts? - Speaking of SPN fan projects, don't worry, I haven't abandoned
spnfic_podcast. I didn't actually receive enough submissions for the next couple of editions, and I'm actually kind of exhausted of chasing people around, so I've been mulling over what I'm going to do with it.
I'm happy to say thatderryderrydown has volunteered to be co-editor, as in, we'll take turns in producing editions, which will be a huge weight off my shoulders and actually encourage me to stick with it more :)
Also, in light of the not-enough-submissions issues, we're going to amalgamate the slash and gen editions. Don't worry, though, non-wincesters, as we did with the Johnslash edition, we'll keep the slashes and the gens together, so that you can listen to the first half of the edition if you're a gen fan, and keep listening on if you're a slash fan. If there are more than about 45 mins of submissions for both slash and gen, then we'll separate it out into 2 editions again.
But anyway, more of that later. - Have discovered how to get stacks of feedback: write stories about Sam and Dean, duh, not John! Though, you know, it's not actually that much of a surprise, heh. I wish I could write the Sam/Dean flavour of wincest. It's not that I don't like it, because I do. It's 99% of what I read, for pete's sake. It's just that I can never get anything written down because I feel like it's all been done already, and by more capable folk than I.
- Speaking of, must update that recs page of mine.
