OMG, I love this idea. It is SO cool. And you write it so that it actually sounds plausible! The details, like the explanation about being a surgeon, they really help to pull it all together. The voices are very good, the flow is excellent, and it's touching. And also creepy as hell.

Simon is mine. Thas all that matters.

This bit, the ending of her explanation, it creeps me right out. I started off thinking, oh, it's so touching, and ended up thinking YIKES!

The last line is perfect, and I can imagine exactly the tone of his voice and the expression on his face.

I forgot to mention that I like how this idea provides a cool explanation for why Simon never really could show affection for Kaylee. FocussedonRiverRobotSimon just can't do it.

"robot!" line in 'the message'

OMG! I completely forgot about that line (The Message is an episode I don't particularly enjoy so I haven't seen it 5 million times - unlike the other episodes). That subtle ep connection thing you've done here makes this fic even more cool.

Augh. Oh my god, augh!
But in the best way. I can't wait to see the rest!

Oh, wow. That was so fucking awesome. The idea fits so perfectly in, somehow... Very nice work :)

still great and fabulously creepyfying :D whee no caps today.

Oh yes dear god almighty. This works so well for me. Whee, mathoms!

[identity profile] fringelement.livejournal.com 2005-11-17 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
eeeeeeee!

I just...yes. love.

you gave me chills. Especially the last line.

River is creepy. I mean, this was amazing, but River is ultra-creepy. I think I love her for it, though, y'know? As someone else might say, creepifyin'. :D

[identity profile] mutelorelei.livejournal.com 2005-11-17 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Whoa. For a second at the first, you had me convinced that River had killed him. And then with the bigger surprise. But this is remarkably believable, slightly creepy, and very powerful. Very cool.

[identity profile] colourmediscord.livejournal.com 2005-11-18 08:47 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I didn't see that one coming. Iiiinteresting. Veeerry iiinteresting.

Worth the extra vowels. Here, have a vowel.

Wow, that is awesome. I'm breath taken. I just...uhh...hmm. Yeah. Wow.
You = Talent

Woah. This really works! It's scarily plausible. Really gives me food for thought. Thanks so much for a disturbing and creepy fic! Looking forward to the next Four Things that never happened to poor Simon...

:-)

Oh, wow. I'm having all sorts of flashes of the ST:TNG episode with Data's mom. And the whole thing is so strangely sense-making.

[identity profile] hermionesviolin.livejournal.com 2006-01-06 02:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, for shame. TNG can be heavy handed at times, and at times its grander logic is less than tenable, but I have much love.

[identity profile] wild-boys.livejournal.com 2006-01-18 12:07 pm (UTC)(link)
That suits Simon. A lot. River is eerie, gorgeously eerie, just all matter-of-fact about things that horrify everybody else, and just quietly dealing. And the last line is so sad kinda.

[identity profile] kampwest.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
wow. this is an incredible story. never really thought about it. but yes, i do remember kaylee calling simon a robot. but it works. it really works. and i like the idea. the ending is good. i love river's reactions to simon.

Wow! I just came across this, and let me say, WOW! It was so amazingly believeable -- and I loved Simon 'waking up' and saying River's name at the end, it gave the whole piece a very eerie, Tam-like feeling. Keep up the great work!
