Because you know how you procrastinate writing by making playlists? Yeah.

5 songs behind the cut )

I have been working for some time on an Epic Romance playlist, but that still needs much more work.

I want to make Children of Earth vids to each and every one of these songs, but as I am not really a vidder any more, instead I will still share via pirating a fanmix.

songs & meta (sort of) )

Anyhoo, even if you care not for Torchwood, these are all pretty fabulous songs that you should definitely grab if you have any liking for covers at all. Drop me a comment if you download!

Amanda Palmer is holding a "ninja gathering" on Friday - looks to be like a giant picnic she's decided to hold at Freemantle Oval, so naturally, free! More details here.

This week's most-played song from my Die Hard 4 playlist: Independence Day - Elliott Smith

And a rec: Save As by [livejournal.com profile] poisontaster (Matt/John, NC-17, 21,000~). Save As: the moment in creating something where you decide this is something you definitely want to keep and have to give it a name.

Taking the fic in this fandom to a new level. ♥

[livejournal.com profile] proofpudding made an absolutely adorable, glee-inducing samndean vid to Jason Mraz's "I'm Yours".

I have been meaning to make a Mraz pimping post for a while, esp as his new album has just come out and I'll be seeing him again in August (zomg!).

As I was saying to [livejournal.com profile] tvm in the comments of her rec post for the above vid, as much as I love Mraz and that song, the version (from the new album) the vidder uses is probably my least favourite. Because the thing with Jason Mraz is that he tours a billion times more than he actually releases albums. And he encourages bootleggers and "illegal" distribution of his music. So basically, having listened to multiple live, acoustic and garage versions of those songs for years, the album sounds a bit too over-produced for me.

But that's ok. The album is 12 songs, and I have on average about 4 more awesome versions of each of those songs; plus it came with a bonus disc with even more live versions. So there is plenty of Mraz fabulousness to be gorged upon :D

So anyway, to share the Mraz love (as encouraged by the man himself), I will share my favourite version of the song: I'm Yours live at Montalvo Winery, Saratoga, California (2006).

I can seriously not listen to that song without getting a huge grin and overflowing with glee. ♥MRAZ♥

And now I go to bed. See, I went to go to bed before, but then I had to listen to that track on my ipod, so then I had to get up, upload it and make an LJ post.

Leaving unlocked because Mraz is all about the free love music. And is also a giant dork (anyone needing convincing of this can friend [livejournal.com profile] fresh_mraz).

I STILL HAVE NO MRAZ ICON.

whyfor i have no mraz icon??

Mraz tix go on sale tomorrowww!!

I love that promo shot they've got up there. He looks like a moderately tousled romantic, lounging the countryside. When really, he's just a giant sappy dork who loves wearing hats, and also posts to his blog about how much he loves the environment and how he's a massive music commie. And let's not forget the beautiful art about his manatee sex dreams.

MRAZ ♥

Impromptu meme

Recently I watched Singin in the Rain again, because [livejournal.com profile] kphoebe hadn't seen it! It's the most fabulous, gayest, poly-est film ever (ok, debatable, but still), and I love it. Definitely my favourite musical.

So, an impromptu meme-thing! for my entertainment :D

1. Go to YouTube

2. Search for your favourite number in your favourite musical

3. Embed it in a comment here for me. (Or, you know. If you're that excited, post about it in your LJ, but link me back to it!)

4. If you can't decide/have a shortlist; embed one and link to the others.

here are mine )

OK GO.

I have a pre-series playlist that I listen to to fond myself up about the Winchesters being wee and domestic. And by "fond myself up", I mean put me in a mindset where I'm thinking fondly of them, and writing fiction about them, and D'AWW I JUST LOVE THE WEECHESTERS, OK?

So, seeing as I just ate about 3 packets of sugar (as in: lollies. or candy, or whatever you call it), I'm all pumped and full of LOVE and in the sharing mood.

So, here's my preseries playlist. Keeping in mind that it's most definitely not in the style of the show, and some are cliche fangirl, some are cliche indie or emo or WHATEVER. They're my preseries songs. Thus unabashedly sentimental (because, hello?). So nir.

Oh, and, I fanarted my own fanmix cover for this one. GOOD TIMES. I ♥ my graphics tablet. Though you can ignore my lack of artistic skillz as well. NIR NIR.

I often make playlists, but rarely post them. Guess I just felt like it this time.

I guess you could consider some of the song choices spoilers, so I’ll lj-cut it with a 2.01 SPOILER WARNING )

i've been ripping a bunch of my old teenage-era CDs, which has made me feel a wee bit shameful.

shameful because i've discovered how mallet-ly relevant a bunch of, say, pop-era metallica songs are to certain themes in my writing. hahah.

if i were completely shameless i'd add such unsubtle songs as Mama Said or the live/orchestral version of Nothing Else Matters to my Stroke of Luck playlist, but yeah. *whistles*

speaking of Stroke of Luck, my head is back in that space of late (which is somewhat aided by aforementioned lyrical anvils). i still have scenes of a sequel curling around like smoke in my head, but am yet to figure a way to get it down that doesn't make it too contrived before i write anything concrete. I'm desperate to do it, but the desperation is warring with a wariness of it as well. I love the story lots, but don't want to weaken it with pseudo-fanfic of it.

Also? recently i've seen it spoken of in a couple of places, by people who didn't even leave feedback on the story itself. liek, i love love love discovering people praising my stories and talking about how much they like them, but the thought of people liking stories (enough to rec them, for example) and not saying anything about it to the author baffles and pains me in somewhat equal parts.

so, here i am being shameless not for the first time in this entry - if you've read a story of mine and you like it? please tell me. just, let me know. i will (shamelessly) love you forever.
