So, um, ahaha. Remember how last time I was like, "damn Mary for goading me into making taunts I have to follow through on!" Well. Um:

Bewitched!
A SPN Devil's Trap songvid.
^ that link will take you to YouTube. S'only about 1 minute long.

Oh, the editing that went into making this one. HOURS and HOURS of it! Well, about five minutes. STILL. THE SKILL REQUIRED!

Um, yeah. Well, I was amused. And Mary questioned my sanity. All in all, a successful endeavor.

Oh. Oh dear.

So I have been doing my usual taunting of Mary, saying things like "hah hah, Dean and Sam are totally Kermit and Miss Piggy!" and "Hah hah, I'm totally making a John/Jim Brokeback Mountain spoof trailer!"

And then, um. I slipped and fell, honest!

Brokeback Mountain/Supernatural spoof trailer

John Winchester/Pastor Jim. Uh, yeah.

I didn't know what to call it, but Mary groaned most heartedly when I suggested the title I ended up using, so. Blame her.

I want to say 'feedback is awesome!' here, but I also understand if we never want to speak of this again. Or, er, you know. If you wanna link, link to this entry.

Wonderboy!
A Supernatural songvid about SUPERHEROES.
music by Tenacious D
songvid by [livejournal.com profile] angstslashhope
Warning: if you're expecting seriousness and/or tastefulness from a Tenacious D song, then, um. Um.
Spoilers for all of Season 1.

Second verse, same as the first: Feedback would be awesome. If you're going to link, please link to this entry.

Also, I don't know if it's my obsessive brain or not, but my dubbing seems to go just a tiny bit out when I play something on YouTube? Possibly I'm just insane.

Fanfic meme!

gacked from like, a million people )

Also, on The Lawrence Awards stuff - Now that all the noms are up, I see that On the banks of the Tiber was nominated for Best (Slash) AU and Best Horror! Thank you!

Thanks also to whomever nominated my vids, Sweetest Perfection and Maker Makes (the latter which I'm a bit boggled by!) for Best Overall Vid.

I am totally blown away by it all. Thank you :)

Made this icon in honour of the fact that SUPERNATURAL NOW OFFICIALLY GETS A SECOND SEASON FRICKING A! Also, the Messrs J are hotasses and Jensen’s pants are mesmerising. Mary’s right, I may not be in the RPS for this fandom, but I love seeing pictures of them where they are so startlingly out of character. It makes me appreciate Sam and Dean more, knowing that Jared and Jensen’s smiles and mannerisms are completely different :)

Have spent the past few days watching the vid every few hours, which is a bit lame, I know, but the way I see it - I’ve created a digest of my favourite bits of my favourite show with the soundtrack of one of my favourite songs. Every time I need a hit of the show I just watch it, a concentrated dose in 5 minutes that leaves me all pumped and full of glee. GIANT HEARTS.

Am also still reeling a bit from last night’s fic. It’s weird, I just meant it to be a silly, snarky cliche ficlet, but kinda took on a life (not to mention GIANT METAPHOR which was, in hindsight, unavoidable) of its own. Usually it’ll take me several days to seed an idea like that, let it germinate, guide its creepers along before it’s taken root enough for me to write all out. This one just wrote itself, totally unexpected.

Anyway, next on the cliche!fic agenda: weddingfic! muahahah.

I ought to propose a cliche fic challenge or something, but I’m too insecure to assume it’d take hold. So if there are any authors reading this, go right ahead, take the bait. Write a cliche fic. They’re frigging fun.

Because I'm still all afterglowy.

vidding rambling )

But anyway. Enough of rambling on that for a while. Except for this, because yeah, I'm a static person more than a temporal person, and I think this looks kickass. Here's what the vid looks on the cutting-room table:

some spoilery images included )

ANYWAY. Thus ends the self-indulgence for today.

Yes, this song is from Brokeback Mountain. No, I didn't think it'd make a very good song to vid SPN to either (was planning more along the lines of AC/DC or Metallica) but, here it is.

Evolution of my love of this song: I set all the Rufus songs on my hard drive to play. This one caught my ear. When I finally listened to it on my headphones, looked at the album name, and actually paid attention to the lyrics, ouch. BBM is still one of those movies that makes you cry just thinking about it later. Then I listened to the song some more, and couldn't stand being in agony every time I did so, so, yaknow, the more you listen and think the more the lyrics reveal further layers, and hey, maybe it's not a song about tragedy after all. Or rather, maybe the tragedy isn't as black and white as it seems.

Anyway. Songvids are fun. And by fun I mean there's a sliver of pure joy in there, where you've just completed the editing and watched it in its entirety for the second time; before the hours and hours spent cursing through the rendering and compressing processes and the months of bitterness at getting a disparate amount of feedback to the amount of work that went into it.

Ah, vidding. You'd have to be completely mad.

So this month's edition of Attitude has the article on slash in it for which I was interviewed. If you're in the UK, pick it up and have a look! I haven't read the final version of the piece yet, I'm waiting for them to send me a copy (but, um, could I put out tentative feelers for someone in UK to pick me up a copy to send over to Aus? I prompted the journalist about it at the start of the month, but still haven't got anything in the mail).

In other news, one of my firefly songvids got nominated for a strawberry/blue sun fandom award! Thankyou, to whoever put that one down! I am rather fond of it myself, but also a little self-conscious, as I know the quality of the file is rather patchy, as the original source was... it's no where near as shiny and polished as most of the high-quality stuff out there. so, thankyou.

i am very tired after a big day at work. my herbal tea is just ready to be poured, imma watch another ep of spn and munch on some carob.

eta: omg, thankyou [livejournal.com profile] alchemilla_ for the valentine's rose!

this is kind-of a remix of [livejournal.com profile] claireweasley's simon songvid to elliott smith's "between the bars" (done with claire's permission, of course).
Between the bars - RIGHT-CLICK SAVE
a Simon songvid to Madeleine Peyroux's cover of Elliott Smith's song.
WMV, 17.3MB.

feedback on songvids is real nice, as they are a lot of work, though they may not look it.

many thanks again to [livejournal.com profile] alchemilla_ for hosting space.

apologies for the darkness of the vid... the bright always goes down when i render it, and again when i compress it, and the clips aren't the best quality to begin with, so bah. turn up the bright on your WMP/monitor while i figure out what program i need to fix it, heh.

this is my first vid and i'm extremely excited about it, so feedback would be very, very cool.

that was totally fun. dude! i want to make another!

...meanwhile, it took me 5 steady hours to make, and about 2 extra hours trying to work out how to compress it enough to actually be web-worthy. sigh. so apologies for the low quality, try turning up the bright on your monitor, i think some scenes have darkened a lot. *watches big, uncompressed, high-quality original*

so yeah, if anyone has any tips or software recommendations on compressing it/converting the format, that would be much appreciated.
